Patrons with a valid library card may use computers in the library for two hours each day. Manlius Library also offers guest passes for two hour periods.
Patrons with a valid library card and a government-issued ID may also check out one of our circulating laptops. The library has 10 PC laptops for circulation in-house and 2 powerful MacBook Pros. The PC laptops have a full suite of office programs. The MacBook Pros are equipped with the entire Adobe Creative Cloud.
After completing a training session, patrons with a valid library card may also check out one of several Chromebook laptops with accompanying Verizon 4G wireless internet hotspots. These kits provide free wireless internet for up to 10 different devices, including the Chromebook. Call the library at 682-6400 to arrange or register for a training session.
Please read our computer use policy.
When you log in to a computer with your library card barcode and PIN, the computer keeps track of time for you. You may use up to two hours per day (all at once or in several sessions). An on-screen timer will help you keep track of your available time.
Anytime you are asked for your barcode you need to enter all 14 digits without any spaces. The computer login also requires a four-digit PIN number. Stop at the circulation desk and present identification if you need to create a PIN. Library cards are not transferable; each patron must use their own library card to access the computer.
Our public access computers have Internet Explorer and Firefox for browsing and Microsoft Office 2010 Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
USB flash drives can be used with public computers. Flash drives (4GB) can be purchased at the circulation desk for $5. CD/DVD drives are available, but burning CDs is not supported.
Speakers are not provided on public computers. Patrons may bring their own headphones or borrow a pair of ours.
