How do I?

Volunteer

The library welcomes volunteers. Check our volunteer page for more information and an application.

Get a Library Card

You will need a valid ID as well as proof of your address to get a library card. Stop by the library to fill out an application and pick up your card. Patrons who are at least 13 years old can begin their library card application online. When you register online, you will receive a temporary barcode number that you can use to request materials and do other operations online. Then come into any library and verify your current address with a picture ID or two other forms of ID to receive your permanent library card. After you have your permanent card, then you can check out items. To begin the online card application visit the My Account link at the top of the page and follow the “click here to register now” link above the barcode/PIN box.

Sign up for the e-newsletter

Manlius Library has two e-newsletters: one for adults and another for kids & teens. Sign up here.

Renew My Items

Most library items (books, DVDs, CDs) may be renewed twice unless they are Rapid Reads or Fast Flicks. If an item is requested by another patron, it may not be renewed. You can renew online with your library card and PIN, call us, or stop in the library.

Return My Items

Manlius Library books, audiobooks, and CDs can be checked out for three weeks. Rapid Read books, our bakeware pans, and video games check out for seven days; new release Fast Flick movies check out for three days. Items can be returned inside the library or at our convenient outside drop behind the library building.

Place a Hold on an Item

If an item is not available at our library, or is hot off the press, you can place a hold and have the item sent to your registered branch. You will be notified by the option set when you created your library account (we offer phone, email, or text). Simply search for a book, audiobook, DVD, etc. then choose Place A Hold from the catalog screen. You can use the search bar on our home page—just make sure “Books & More” is selected. This will take you directly to the Onondaga County Public Library catalog.

Reserve a Room at the Library

You can request rooms for your group or organization online or by calling (315) 682-6400. Read more about our meeting room use policy.  The Story Time Room (for children’s programming) accommodates up to 75 people.  The Community Room accommodates up to 55.  The Conference Room accommodates up to 25.
