Now You See Them…Joel Sartore’s documentation of the Anthropocene Extinction
presented by Anita Welych, professor, art

Anita Welych

Professor Anita Welych’s lecture examines the work of Joel Sartore, an award-winning National Geographic photographer and a quintessential example of someone racing against time. Species are becoming extinct at 1000 times the normal rate, so Sartore is working as quickly as he can to document the 12,000 species of animals currently in captivity worldwide. Though some have already gone extinct since he photographed them, Sartore attempts to create a stunning visual record and raise awareness of how we might stave off the loss of some of our world’s remarkable creatures.
